Predictable Jazz Move

The Utah Jazz exercised their option on Paul Milsap (surprise, surprise) and made a qualifying offer to C. J. Miles yesterday.

I expect Milsap to have a long term deal before the end of next season as he is an important part of the team long term. I don't know why the Jazz still want C. J. Miles. He has shown flashes of brilliance, but he never met a shot he didn't like. We have enough 2 guards and small forwards where we don't need Miles.

I expect the Jazz to make some moves to clear the roster and create cap room to sign Williams as we will not let him go.

We'll see what the Jazz do on, and after, July 1st for the free agent season. It's going to be a fun summer!

Utah Jazz select: Unpronounceable names?

Who are these players the Jazz drafted? I am VERY disappointed that we didn't trade up to get Hibbert. O'Conner did the next best thing and stash players in Europe for a couple of years.

The kid from Ohio State is a younger version of Memo. I like that he is 19 and has international experience. I expect him to spend a lot of time in Orem this year. Hopefully Fes and Almond will improve enough over the off season that they can contribute this year.

Here is what Fox Sports says about Utah's draft:

Utah Jazz

First round: Kosta Koufos, C, 7-1, 265, Ohio State
Second round: Ante Tomic, 7-1, 240, Croatia
Second round: Tadija Dragicevic, 6-7, 210 Serbia

The Jazz went the way of internationalism, with the latter two likely to stay in Europe for a while, but Koufos was ready to split from the Buckeyes quickly. He's not quite ready either. He's awkward, and doesn't move great, but he has great hands and a nice touch. He's very much like Zydrunas Ilgauskas. It will be interesting to see if he can carve out a career as nice as Z's.

I still expect the Jazz to move some players as when we sign Koufos and CJ, we'll have 15 players on the roster. I don't know what free agents the Jazz should go after. I don't think that there is anyone exciting out there. Hopefully we'll pull off a great deal to get us to the championship level as I believe the Jazz are one player away.

Williams and Boozer named to the Olympic team!

Boozer and Williams made it to the team. I don't know if the team will do very well as the only power players on the team are Boozer, Bosh, and Howard. What were they thinking? I know the USA got killed with outside shooting a few years ago, but this year they seem to have forgotten about the inside game. It's going to be a scary Olympics if we can't make the outside shot.

Hopefully the coach will play Williams more than Christina Paul. I know Kidd will start, but Williams will do better against the international competition than Paul will.

Thursday is the Draft. The Jazz better package their picks if they think they're going to get a quality big man (*cough* Hibbert *cough*). I will be disappointed if they let him get away. We don't need 3 picks this year. Package them (and a player if needed) to move up in the draft.

Welcome to my new blog about the Jazz!

Here is my new blog about everyone's favorite team: the Utah Jazz. Feel free to comment and let your friends know about the blog!

The Draft is this Thursday. Who do you think the Jazz will pick? Will they even keep their picks or trade them away? I would love the Jazz to be able to get Hibbert from Georgetown. I'm afraid he'll be gone by pick 23. I expect the Jazz to package their picks and move up as the Jazz already has 14 players under contract. Just 4 more days and we'll know for sure!
